Regular Season
Founded in 1987 in Central Park, North Park is New York City's elite not-for-profit travel hockey program. We compete in the Hudson Valley Hockey League (HVHL), Long Island Amateur Hockey League (LIAHL), the Eastern Junior Elite Prospects League (EJEPL), and against other competitive hockey clubs in Long Island, Westchester, Upstate New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and all along the Eastern seaboard.
Ages
Our travel hockey program in 2023-'24 will be for players in birth years 2009-2016, from 8U Mites through 14U Bantams. We also will have a 6U Developmental Mites program available for players in the birth years 2017-2019.
When
Team formation will take place in March 2023. The season will start in September 2023.
Where
For our 2023-'24 season, we will have practices and home games at a number of local indoor and outdoor rinks in NY + NJ, including Mackay, City Ice Pavilion, Cutting Edge Ice Academy, Ice House, American Dream, Kips Bay, LIC Ice and, targeted for September 2023, a new facility in Long Island City, the Graveyard.
Practices
Each team will practice two to three times a week starting with weekends in September. The regular weekday practice schedule begins in October. We will offer all players specialized powerskating training either in the regular practices (8U & 10U) or on an opt-in basis separate from the regular practices (12U and older). We also offer a weekly goalie academy for our goalies in addition to specialized goalie training in regular practices.
Games
Our teams will typically play 1-3 games per weekend, with a mix of league and exhibition games, plus league playoffs and 2-3 independent tournaments. We target 35 games per season per team at 10U and older, and 20 games per season (one game per week) at the 8U level.
Jerseys
Uniforms for new seasons are typically ordered annually in April-May following Tryouts.
