Regular Season

Founded in 1987 in Central Park, North Park is New York City's only not-for-profit elite-level travel hockey program. We compete in the Hudson Valley Hockey League and the Metro Elite Hockey League, and against other competitive hockey clubs in Long Island, Westchester, New Jersey and Connecticut.

Our travel hockey program in 2020-21 will be for players in birth years 2006-2013. We also have a developmental mites program available for players in the birth years 2014-2016.

Registrations for the 2020-2021 season have been completed. Tryouts/team formation will take place in late September 2020. If we cannot place your child on a team in September, your deposit will be refunded in full.

For our 2020-21 season, we will have practices and home games at several rinks around the area, hopefully including a new rink in Long Island City (preliminary being called The Graveyard), Cutting Edge Ice Academy, City Ice Pavilion, MacKay & the Ice House.

Each team will practice twice a week starting with weekends in September. The regular weekday practice schedule begins in October. We will offer all players specialized powerskating training either in the regular practices (8U & 10U) or on an opt-in basis separate from the regular practices (12U and older). We also offer a weekly goalie academy for our goalies in addition to specialized goalie training in regular practices.

Our teams will typically play 1-2 games per weekend, with a mix of league and exhibition games, plus league playoffs and/or ~2 independent tournaments. We target 35 games per season per team at 10U and older, and 20 games per season (one game per week) at the 8U level. The practice - game mix is expected to be more heavily weighted towards practices during this upcoming season, as a result of health and safety related regulations.

Uniforms for new seasons are typically ordered annually in May, and were placed in early July this season following our registration period. Practice jerseys, 8U Mite jerseys and other North Park accessories can also be purchased in when the online store reopens in September.
